MTN mPulse Hackathon 2019

MTN mPulse Hackathon was an online Hackathon competition for the brightest young minds from various states in Nigeria. This hackathon held in partnership with hubs and STEM organizations across the country that are dedicated to training young people in STEM education.

The Hackathon held in August 2019, with 720+ children (ages 9-14) who participated across the country using the MTN-TQ portal. The kids signed up on the portal to participate in the hackathon, accessed text and video learning resources, participated in quizzes and submitted their final projects based on what they learned in their categories.

Theme: Solving problems using the power of the internet

The children learnt about programming and they built solutions leveraging the power of the internet to solve their local problems. The learning tracks were:
● Application Development (App Inventor)
● Game and Animation Design (Scratch)

The top 15 winners were shortlisted based on the quality of their project entries and quiz performances. They were invited to the MTN Head office on September 13, 2019, to celebrate them and receive their prizes.
